What kind of proof is necessary for a teacher to give a student a W? Suppose the teacher neither calls attendance role by index cards, checks attendance by seat plan nor has the beadle check attendance. Can the teacher still give proof of over-cut?

As for the latter one, probably.
For all you know your teacher checks attendance via class list.
Or via the number of quizzes or seat works you miss.
